Shell Honours Trucking Elite As Drivers Are Inducted Onto The Wall of Fame

24/08/2007

Alice Springs, August 25, 2007 – The Shell Rimula Wall of Fame saw 54 new members inducted today, in a celebration of a lifetime of service to the trucking industry.

From the chief executives of national transport carriers to ‘truckies’ from across Australia, over 550 people have descended on National Road Transport Hall of Fame in Alice Springs this weekend, for a three day celebration of our nation’s road transport industry stalwarts.

Penny Locaso, Shell Australia Lubricants Brand and Communications Manager said, “We are delighted to be involved with celebrating the careers and contribution of Australia’s best truck drivers. These men and women dedicate their professional lives to connecting Australia – transporting everything from foods, furniture, fuel and mail.

“Shell Australia has been involved with the National Road Transport Hall of Fame for seven years, and it’s something that means a great deal to us. It gives us a great opportunity to talk to the drivers about the products that help them do their jobs and keep their rigs running  smoothly, like Shell Rimula.”

The annual celebrations, which kicked off on Thursday (23rd August), have included such events as the Transport Women Australia breakfast, The Cummins Truckie’s Race Day at the Alice Springs Turf Club and inaugural TruckArt competition.

The annual Shell Rimula Gala Dinner will be held tonight at the National Road Transport Hall of Fame, where participants will be entertained by local comedian Fiona O’Loughlin and Aussie band Rukus.
