Shell Australia Welcomes New Chairman

01/02/2006

Shell Australia today officially welcomed Mr Russell Caplan to the role of Chairman of Shell Companies in Australia.  Mr Caplan succeeds Mr Tim Warren who has retired after 36 years service with the Shell Group.

Mr Caplan returned home this year to take up the role after 9 years working for Shell internationally.  He has held a series of positions in Shell Australia in both the resources business and in the downstream business becoming Executive Director – Downstream before taking up several international assignments from 1997.  Most recently, Mr Caplan was Senior Vice President on Shell’s global Downstream Leadership Team based in London.

Chairman of Shell Companies in Australia, Mr Russell Caplan said, “I’m very pleased to be back in Australia and look forward to further strengthening Shell’s important place in the Australian energy sector.  Our performance in 2005 was strong with continued growth in the Upstream and a welcome turn-around in the Downstream performance.

“I look forward to the challenge of continuing this performance in 2006 and beyond,” he said.
