Shell Gourami Business Challenge

Gourami, a fictional country is at the heart of Shell's interactive business challenge. Your challenge? You’ll work with a team of other talented undergraduates and Shell staff from Asia and Australia to develop a five-year business plan and present it to senior Shell leaders. The Gourami Business Challenge has been run in America and Europe over the last ten years to great acclaim. This is the third year running Gourami has been made available to students from the Oceania region.

Find out first hand what the energy business is about

You’ll gain an accurate insight into the energy business - from the upstream operations of Exploration & Production to the downstream operations of Refining and Marketing. You’ll also learn about the servicing operations that support these, including Finance and Human Resources.

Learn a lot and learn fast

Find out how you might cope at the sharp end of an international business. Deal with everything from complex issues to demanding timescales. Test your true management potential and develop valuable skills along the way.

Structured Assessment

Your performance and development during your time on the Gourami Business Challenge will be assessed and you will receive structured feedback in order to further develop your skills and knowledge. At the end of the Challenge, you may be invited to the next stage of our recruitment process - the Shell Recruitment Day - where your Gourami performance will contribute to your overall evaluation.

When and Where?

Gourami 2008 will be held in Malaysia, 21-26 August.  Applicants who are chosen to participate in Gourami will have their flights and accommodation paid for.

Who can apply?

Gourami is open to penultimate (second to last) year students who possess relevant Australian work permits or residence status. We are looking for students studying Engineering, Business, Commerce, Finance and Accounting disciplines.
