How to Apply

printable version
Applications for the Graduate Program have now closed. Applications will next open in March 2008

To apply for any student opportunity with us, we ask you to complete a general application.

What we look for

Step 1

Technical graduates are assessed across all four criteria listed below. Only capacity, achievement, and relationship competencies are assessed for commercial graduates.

Capacity: You’ll need to bring the intellectual, analytical and creative ability to learn quickly, identify issues, make judgements and propose solutions

Achievement: We’ll expect plenty of enthusiasm, resilience and confidence – you’ll be someone who can always get things done

Relationship skills: You should have the character and ability to work effectively with others in a diverse team

Technical skills: Understanding and approaching technical issues coupled with an enthusiasm for technical challenge.

Apply

Step 2

You can apply using Shell’s online application system. The first stage of your application will be to complete an online questionnaire. This has been designed to help you understand more about what it’s like to work at Shell and to assess how well you’re likely to perform. You can then proceed to complete the application form and attach your CV/resume.

Interview

Step 3

If your application is successful, we’ll invite you to an interview. This will take place either face-to-face or over the telephone. We’ll be assessing how you perform against the criteria listed above. At the end of the interview, you’ll have the chance to ask us some questions of your own – these could be about the programme, the culture or any other area of interest to you.

The Shell Recruitment Day

spte 4

The next stage for graduates is the Shell Recruitment Day (SRD). This is our chance to see you in action in a variety of different work scenarios. We'll be assessing how well you demonstrate the key competencies we're looking for.

You will be joined on the SRD by up to six other candidates and four assessors who'll be observing individual performances, not looking for winners and losers.

The day will last for eight hours, including time for lunch, refreshment breaks and preparation, and you'll undertake three key exercises: a Case Study; a Group Discussion and a Business Scenario Interview, Technical Presentation or Technical Interview.
