printable version

In 2006 a new Shell Employee Community Grants Committee was formed.

It is this committee’s responsibility to assess all community grants applications.

Community Grants Committee

Shell Geelong Refinery is committed to providing assistance to not-for-profit organisations that are seeking funding for projects beneficial to the local community.

The Shell Employee Community Grants Committee has been established to consider grant applications in the areas of health and wellbeing, education and care for the environment. It is focusing on initiatives that will benefit the communities of the northern suburbs of Geelong.

The committee will call for submissions according to a set of criteria and guidelines and grants will be allocated twice each calendar year. Sarah Baran is Chair of the Shell Employee Community Grants Committee and is Shell Geelong Refinery’s Community Development Officer. “The committee provides Shell employees with a unique opportunity to decide on the allocation of community grants as a team, and to engage directly with community agencies and residents. It is a wonderful way for employees to develop personally and professionally,” said Sarah.

Mick De Wit, Shell Emergency Response Trainer and Committee Member: “I am a member of the Shell Employee Community Grants Committee and enjoy being a part of an initiative that will help people in the community. It is an interesting, challenging and enjoyable addition to my regular work role.”
