With extensive experience in the petrochemical field, Ilija will manage a large engineering department responsible for all aspects of the refinery’s major projects as well its maintenance program, which is governed by criteria set by Shell International and State and Federal Government regulators. He will also represent the refinery at a number of local manufacturing and industry forums. Prior to joining Shell, Ilija worked as an engineering consultant and at Mobil, holding a variety of operations, projects and process engineering positions. As a former AFL footballer, he also played a total of 10 seasons with the Western Bulldogs, the Westcoast Eagles and Essendon.
Shell Geelong Refinery Acting Manager, Geoff Caddy, congratulated Ilija on his new position.
“Since joining the refinery’s project department in 2005 Ilija has worked on a number of significant refinery projects, notably our particulates and emission reduction projects,” said Geoff.
“We congratulate him on his appointment and wish him success in his new role,” he said.
“I would also like to thank Alan Greaves for his significant contribution to Shell during the past 28 years and we all wish him well for the future.
“Alan was instrumental in leading a number of major projects at the refinery as well as establishing Geelong’s multi-million dollar Australian Technical College that will provide students with the opportunity to undertake a school-based apprenticeship while completing Years 11 and 12.”
