Refinery Environmental Field Officer, David Burrell, is calling on local residents to join Shell employees on Clean Up Australia Day. “Last year around 40 people including community members and Shell employees picked up over five cubic metres of rubbish,” said Mr Burrell. “This is not only a Shell staff activity, it is for all local residents who care for the environment to lend a hand to clean rubbish that clogs our beaches, parks, roadsides, bushland and waterways. “Interested community members should register as a volunteer at Shell’s Clean Up Australia Day post located on the Shell Parade Foreshore on Sunday morning. “Shell will also be providing morning tea to thank everyone who volunteers at the Shell site for their hard work.” Clean Up Australia day is a nation wide initiative. “Clean Up Australia Day allows volunteers to witness first hand the impact of rubbish in our environment. We need to do everything we can to contribute to the conservation of this unique and diverse nation,” Ian Kiernan AO, Clean Up Australia Chairman and Founder, said. ENDS
