Media Release

A Major Alarm was sounded at around 0830 this morning at Shell's Geelong Refinery.

Appropriate safety steps were taken and the CFA arrived immediately on site.

The cause of the alarm was found to be a gas leak, which was quickly isolated. 

The all clear was sounded for normal work to resume in all areas outside of the immediate incident area at 0930. 

The EPA and Workcover have been notified.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the leak.
