SHELL GEELONG REFINERY ACHIEVES ‘MISSION POSSIBLE’

19/09/2005

Shell Geelong Refinery employees recently celebrated the milestone of one million man-hours worked without a recordable injury.

Refinery Manager, Geoff Ellison, said the achievement is a first in the refinery’s 51-year history and is evidence of a journey towards world-class safety.

“One million man-hours worked without a recordable injury is an outstanding achievement and proves that safety in the workplace is a mission possible,” said Mr Ellison.

“’Mission Possible’ is the name given to a safety performance initiative to achieve the safety standards people once thought were impossible.

“The safety of our employees is our number one priority and great effort is given to training, maintenance and integrity programs which link together to achieve the safety results we celebrate.

“Zero incidents is our target and I believe, particularly based on this outstanding performance, that it’s entirely possible,” he said.

Refinery employees were presented with a gift to mark the occasion.
