Workplace Giving is a part of Shell’s social investment program where employees are offered one day per year of paid leave to volunteer at participating community organisations. If employees spend an additional day of their own time volunteering with one of the participating community organisations, Shell will then give use of a second day per year of company time to volunteer. If employees choose not to volunteer, they can still make a pre-tax donation from their pay to one of Shell’s charitable donation partners, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Refinery. Shell Refinery Manager, Geoff Ellison, said Workplace Giving is an important company program and is encouraging all Refinery employees to take part. “Refinery employees have the opportunity to assist our community partners by volunteering their time and I encourage all interested individuals to discuss participation with their line managers,” Geoff said. “Increasing our community involvement is a positive step for the Refinery and if all eligible employees volunteered the maximum time allowed, this would equate to a massive $800,000 worth of time.” Who does the Workplace Giving program apply to? The Workplace Giving program applies to permanent and fixed term employees on the Shell Australia payroll (part time and full time).
