An EIP is a voluntary, public commitment by a company to improve its environmental performance. It is a commitment between a company, the community and the environmental regulator and aspires to continuous improvement on emerging environmental concerns. The purpose of an EIP is to improve environmental performance. The purpose of the EIP 2007-2009 is to build on the refinery's recent major achievements - many of which were completed as a result of actions identified under the EIP 2004-2006 - and to identify any new opportunities for environmental improvement. Shell Geelong Refinery's EIP 2007-2009 lists key projects and activities that focus on seven areas: - Resource Efficiency
- Water
- Energy & Greenhouse Gas Emissions
- Waste Management
- Air Quality ;
- Soil and Groundwater;
- Community Amenity; and
- Proactive Environmental Management.
The EIP expresses Shell Geelong Refinery's long-term aspirational goals and reflects our determination to achieve continuous environmental improvement. |
