The World Superbike Championship is the most advanced form of production-based motorcycle racing. Attracting massive crowds wherever the races take place, fans can see their favourite stars competing for honours on bikes which are not a million miles away from their own. Traditionally the major power has been the Ducati Corse team, who have won 14 Manufacturers’ World Championships and 12 Riders’ World Championships in the relatively short history of the series.
The Superbikes are highly-developed road-bikes with uprated parts and improved performance. Boasting in the region of 200bhp, they are able to reach incredible speeds and corner with impressive traction and stability.
Many road-going equivalents of the racing bikes are very high performance, and much of their capability is derived from manufacturers developments on the track. This is equally true of Shell Advance, as their race oil innovations allow them to push the boundaries of road-bike oils further and further, bringing bike owning fans the benefits of their experience.
