Background
Linda Cook joined Shell Oil Company in Houston in 1980, having graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. She worked for Shell Oil Company in Houston and California in a variety of technical and managerial positions until 1998 when she moved to The Hague, where her roles included that of Director, Strategy & Business Development on the Shell Exploration & Production Global Executive Committee.
Linda was appointed Chief Executive Officer for Shell Gas & Power from January 2000 to July 2003, based in London. Shell Gas & Power is responsible for the global natural gas, LNG, Gas to Liquids and power generation activities of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group.
Linda then became President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Shell Canada Limited from August 1, 2003. Shell Canada Limited is one of Canada’s largest integrated petroleum companies, active in natural gas exploration and production, as well as oil sands mining and bitumen processing. In addition, Shell Canada is a leading manufacturer, distributor and marketer of refined petroleum products.
Linda became Executive Director Gas & Power on 27 October 2004.
Linda was appointed a Managing Director of Royal Dutch Petroleum Company, became a Group Managing Director and resumed her role as Chief Executive Officer for Shell Gas & Power with effect from August 2004.
Linda is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. She was named to the Board of Directors of the Boeing Company, in December 2003.
Personal
Born in June 1958 in Kansas City, Linda and her husband Steve have three children. She enjoys travelling, museums, reading, skiing and attending the children’s sporting events.
