Hugh Mitchell

Background

Hugh Mitchell graduated from Edinburgh University with a MA (Hons) in Modern History in 1979.

Hugh joined Shell Exploration & Production in Aberdeen later that year in Human Resources. Further HR and business roles followed across the UK and Brunei in both upstream and downstream businesses.

In 1997 he became HR Vice President for the newly established Global Oil Products Business, holding that position as a member of the Oil Products Executive Committee until 2003.

Hugh moved to The Hague in 2003 as Director International, one of the Group’s Corporate Centre Directors.

In March 2005, Hugh was appointed Human Resources Director of Royal Dutch Shell plc. He became a member of the Executive Committee in October 2007.

Hugh holds a number of external advisory board positions in Human Resources and Education.

Personal
Hugh was born in Scotland in February, 1957. He is married to Linda and they have one daughter and one son. He continues to be active in many sports, particularly tennis, football, running and hill walking.
