Why did you decide to work for Shell?

Before joining Shell, I worked for a state owned engineering company in charge of negotiating projects using international technologies and equipments. During this time I came across a number of multinational companies but Shell was the one that really caught my interest.

How would you describe your role at Shell?

My current job is to look after Shell's interests in the gas and power joint ventures in China. This includes Shell's relationship with partners, national oil companies and governments. I find it both engaging and challenging. Engaging - as my job allows me to deal with a wide range of stakeholders in China; challenging - as China is a very dynamic market undergoing continuous change.

Have you received any training at Shell?

Yes. Every year during annual appraisal time the development needs are discussed and a plan agreed on to address those needs. Training is carried out in many different ways - formal training is only one part of it. Other means include learning on the job, coaching by experienced colleagues and posting to work in other part of the world. Personally I learnt the most from working in London and The Hague for four years.

What do you like most about the job?

It provides me with lots of challenges as well as learning opportunities. I also really enjoy working with colleagues of diverse backgrounds, within a company with a wide range of businesses. And most of all, it's fun!
