Why did you decide to work for Shell?

After graduation, I spent a year working in a bank before realising that I really wanted to work in a company that actually manufactured something! I joined Shell Singapore in Oil Products and immediately felt at home.

How would you describe your role at Shell?

I am currently the Hydrocarbon Solvents Product Manager for Asia Pacific. I am responsible for the bottom line for this business from Japan to Australia and New Zealand. While I am focused on delivering on my financial targets, meeting health and safety standards is foremost in my mind whether I'm considering new opportunities, new customers or the existing business.

What do you like most about the job?

The breadth and scope of my responsibilities is really exciting. I'm a people person, so I enjoy interacting with Shell manufacturing, supply chain, and sales people plus third party suppliers and customers from all over. While developing strategy is interesting, it is convincing people to buy-in and execute the strategy that most excites me.

What makes you stay at Shell?

The people, the company culture, and the development opportunities that Shell offers. I enjoy working with my colleagues - committed professionals who obviously enjoy what they do. I'm also proud that the 'Shell Statement of General Business Principles' is not just a document but is actually the way of life within Shell. In my thirteen years at Shell, I've had varied and challenging assignments that have allowed me to develop and grow in ways that I never imagined would happen when I was a university student.
