How would you describe your role at Shell?

My team is responsible for defining, implementing and managing the application change management process. I am responsible for ensuring that all production application changes in Downstream USA are handled in a way that maximises communication and minimises risk. I’m also a Shell Campus Recruiter for the Texas A&M University and University of Houston, Council Chair for the Downstream USA IT Diversity Council and Executive Council member of the Shell Asian Pacific Employees Network Group.

Have you travelled to other countries/regions within your role?

My department has recently become global, and as part of the implementation of revised IT processes, I travelled to London. It was great to learn more about the UK and meet with my European colleagues.

What do you like most about your job?

I love being able to perform multiple roles and see my efforts benefit both the staff and the organisation as a whole. As Change Management Co-ordinator I can see my work contributing to a more stable environment. As a Recruiter, it's wonderful when I help bring new talent into the organisation. The Diversity Council role is particularly enjoyable - the feedback from surveys, the people attending events in their lunch hours, the number of volunteers - all these things point to a highly successful strategy.

What are your future career plans?

In the short term, I want to learn as much as I can from other colleagues and leaders in the IT organisation, while at the same time gaining experience of other areas of the business. Longer term, I'd like to explore other disciplines, both in the USA and globally.

What makes you stay at Shell?

Shell respects its people, and rewards them well. It's highly professional, and with the size and resources that allow for future growth, the organisation has a great deal to offer.
