Why did you decide to work for Shell?

I was impressed by the brand, the passion of the people who work for the company, and the fact that I would have the opportunity to excel in what I do.

What is your background and experience?

When I finished my education, I began working in a car agency, progressed to running my own business and then changed tack to join Shell's Customer Service centre. Within two years I was promoted to Retail Sales Account Manager. Later, I moved on to become Financial Controller for Shell sites before becoming Team Leader for the whole of Bavaria. I then ran the V-Power implementation project in Germany before managing retail sales for North/East Germany. Since June 2004, I have been in Belgium, again responsible for retail sales.

How would you describe your typical day?

My daily day starts early 6:00 hrs with the planning of the action. In a coffee talk I use the opportunity to talk with some of my employees and afterwards I follow meetings and planned actions. I get a daily feedback to our sales figures and margins and work with my team on improving the sales. Site visits are part of the weekly work.

What do you like most about the job?

The fact that I'm responsible for producing great results for the company. I enjoy the freedom to make important decisions, and I also get a great deal of satisfaction from coaching the staff who work with me.
