Internal Audit Manager, Finance

Ivan
  • Location: US
  • Joined Shell: September 1998

What is your current role at Shell?

I am the Internal Audit Manager for the US, heading the US regional audit group that is part of the Group Global Audit Network and of Shell Finance Services (SFS). We provide internal auditing for all the US based businesses. I head a group of 45 people from diverse business backgrounds, including retail, procurement, engineering and finance.

What do you like best about your role?

I think the single thing I like most is the variety of businesses we work with and the very different business issues we are exposed to. We get to see the whole spectrum of businesses that operate here. It’s extremely interesting from that point of view – you rarely find a role that gives you access to that type of interaction, while promoting robust risk management and internal control practices, a key component for our organisation’s health.

Tell us about your background and experience

My background is in finance. Before my current assignment, I worked in Group Treasury in London, as Controller in South Latin America Cluster (based in Buenos Aires) and in various finance positions in Chile, including Treasurer of Shell Chile.

What makes you stay at Shell?

I admire the business principles that this company stands for – integrity, honesty and respect for people. Shell really strives to promote those values, and that’s a very powerful factor for me.

In addition, this is such a huge enterprise in terms of geographic locations and opportunities. There has never been a dull moment.
