Staff Geophysicist, Geophysics, EP

Elizabeth
    • Location: US
    • Joined Shell: August 2002

What is your current role at Shell?

I work in Shell EP Technology Solutions (EPT-S), providing technical services to Shell units that have operations in deepwater. This includes interpreting seismic data and developing drilling prospects.

My area of expertise is applying seismic attributes, volume interpretation and visualisation technology to increase exploration success.

What do you like best about your role?

I have the opportunity to use leading edge technology to explore varied geologic environments all over the world. Shell utilises a lot of proprietary technology and technical expertise. EPT-S is a lead implementer for many of the technologies that are developed at SEPTAR (Shell Exploration and Production Technology Applications and Research).

As the implementers of the new technologies, we have an opportunity to influence and, occasionally, conceptualise development of proprietary technologies.

Tell us about your background and experience

I have a BS in Geophysics from Texas A&M University and an MS in Geological Sciences from Brown University. I initially worked for Texaco, providing geophysical technical services to operating units worldwide. Prior to Shell, I worked within technical software development, where I managed the development of GeoProbe, a leading-edge 3-D seismic interpretation and visualisation software.

What makes you stay at Shell?

I work with incredibly bright people and learn from them every day. I get to work on interesting data and projects from all over the world, and the Shell culture encourages both technical excellence and a good work/life balance.
