Put simply, I was looking for new direction, and Shell not only offered the sort of challenges I was looking for but also provided the opportunities to develop in a dynamic and forward thinking industry.

I am responsible for the consolidation of plans across a range of issues relating to retail and marketing. It's essential that we have clear targets to help us achieve our overall vision, and in order to stay on course it's vital to have accurate checks and balances. Efficient planning ensures that we match the correct level of resources to produce the required level of returns on our investment.

I never have a typical day! Sometimes I have a quiet day at my desk - either at home, in a hotel or in the office - and other days I have a hectic through-the-night day filled with conference calls, meetings and emails. One of the best things about working in the office is the great relationships I've built up with my colleagues. The only really typical thing about my day is the fact that the workload always increases at 4pm, as London and the USA wake up.

There are many things I enjoy about working for Shell, but diversity and the people really make the job for me.

I would like to stay in marketing, however at some stage I would like to run my own business.
