Employee Volunteerism


Shell has a long and distinguished record of volunteerism in US communities. Whether they are cleaning up beaches or educating residents how to prepare for hurricane season  – Shell employees and retirees are eager to give back to their respective communities through company-sponsored activities.

Every year more than 1,500 Shell employees, retirees and their family members contribute, on average, more than 40,000 hours for company-sponsored volunteer initiatives nationwide. These include support of Shell's sponsorship of the America's WETLAND Campaign, Shell's Workforce Development Initiative and various United Way campaigns -opens in a new window.

 

Each fall, Shell volunteers participate in cleaning beaches in Texas, California and Louisiana in support of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup. This cleanup recovers more than 8 million pounds of trash from 16,250 miles of beaches, rivers and lakes each year.

 

Shell US is also a strong supporter of the Points of Light Foundation -opens in a new window, which strives to engage more people more effectively in volunteer community service to help solve serious social problems.
