  • Tanks should remain readily accessible at all times.

  • If a leak in the tank is suspected, turn off and remove the regulator, then make it to a well ventilated and isolated area.

Don'ts

  • Never apply direct flame to the tank.
  • Never store or use tanks in basement or cellar.

In case of emergency

Follow these steps immediately in case of emergency:

  • Eliminate all sources of ignition immediately. Do not switch on/ off electrical switches as they may cause sparks.
  • Close the main gas valve to stop the flow of gas.
  • Open windows, doors and other openings to increase ventilation.
  • Evacuate all personnel not involved in handling the emergency.
  • If leak is on the cylinder, bring the cylinder to a well ventilated and isolated area.
  • Cover leaking portion with wet cloth and/or spray water to disperse vapor cloud.

If escaping vapor catches fire:

  • Shutoff main gas valve as well as other valves along the gas line.
  • If the cylinder catches fire, spray water on the upper portion of the cylinder to keep it cool. Attempt to put out the fire only if the leak can be stopped.
  • Call FIRE DEPT.

How to transport LPG tanks in your truck

Follow these steps when transporting LPG tanks in your truck:

If you are transporting filled LPG tanks, do not park your vehicle under hot sun. Secure the tank tightly to prevent it from rolling inside the vehicle. Do not smoke when transporting your LPG tank.

The danger of buying fake 50-kg Shellane tanks

At Shellane, cylinders undergo a rigorous inspection and maintenance process to ensure maximum safety.

Before refilling, tanks are either tested, repaired, repainted, or washed depending on the need.

Buying fake Shellane tanks could endanger your business because these tanks did not undergo the proper safety and maintenance measures.

Your Shellane is tested and inspected before filling. The tanks are also checked for leaks and accuracy of weight. Tanks are regularly tested, repaired, repainted or washed.

Safety for Industrial applications

Bulk Tank Safety

Safety is the primary consideration in doing business with Shellane. Below are the safety distances of bulk tanks required from any structures or source of ignition.

Other points to consider are:

  • Ensure that the tank is away from any flammable material
  • Area under and around the tank should be clear of vegetation
  • Do not locate the bulk tank where vehicle is present. Should this not be possible, crash barriers should be provided
  • Constantly check the installation for potential hazards

Fire Precautions

  • Make sure that fire fighting equipment are available
  • Place fire extinguishers near the LPG installation
  • Check if the sprinkler system is working and has the correct water pressure. Ensure the sprinkler heads are clog free

Warning Notices
