Who makes the decisions at the Pension Fund?

The Shell Pension Fund Foundation (Stichting Shell Pensioenfonds) is an independent foundation. The Board, comprising four employer and four employee representatives, is the Foundation’s most senior body and bears ultimate responsibility for all decisions.

Shell Pensioenbureau Nederland B.V. (SPN) is responsible for administering the pension scheme and has been appointed Director of the Pension Fund. Shell Asset Management Company B.V. (SAMCo) is responsible for asset management.

Do pension beneficiaries have a voice in the Pension Fund?

Yes, pension beneficiaries have been represented in the Members’ Council since 1990, to which they may be appointed following their nomination by VOEKS (Vereniging van Oud-Employé’s der Koninklijke/Shell). The Members’ Council comprises participants and pension beneficiaries in proportion to their respective number and has comprised eight pension beneficiaries and four participants since 1st March 2003.

Does the Pension Fund publish data on its financial situation?

Yes, an annual report is published each year, in Dutch. A summary of the activities in the past year and the key figures are alo published in English. You can download a digital version from this website under the section: 'Annual Reports / Year in brief'.

How do the participants receive information they need?

Each year, they receive a personal pension summary with the pension entitlements relating to their own situation. Participants having access to SWW, the Shell intranet, can carry out pension calculations with the Pension Calculator.

How do pension beneficiaries receive information they need?

Each year, pension beneficiaries receive information about their pension rights in writing. In addition, all retirees receive ‘Voeksnieuws’, the magazine for Shell retirees. The Pension Fund uses ‘Voeksnieuws’ to publish general announcements to pension beneficiaries.

How do former participants receive information they need?

Former participants receive information about their pension entitlements in writing every year. Former participants who have moved abroad without informing the Pension Fund of their change of address do not receive any information.
