Shell Showcases Local Success at “Britain in Kuwait”

Shell has joined a number of leading British businesses in Kuwait in participating in the seventh Britain in Kuwait Exhibition at the Al-Raya Ballroom in Kuwait City that is being organised under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al Ahmed Al Sabah, Prime Minister, and British Ambassador, Stuart Laing.

The event gives Shell the opportunity to display its 60 years of local history in Kuwait and its extensive technical expertise in the global oil and gas industry. It is also a platform to showcase some of the company’s social initiatives such as local capacity building and the regional youth enterprise Intilaaqah programme.

“Shell is very proud to be part of the Britain in Kuwait event. It is an opportunity for our company to exhibit its expertise and history as a trusted British business partner in Kuwait,” said Mr. Ahmed Mouti, Chairman of Shell Companies in Kuwait. “Shell has a long and distinguished track record of applying advanced technologies to support Kuwait in meeting its energy demands and challenges,” he added.

Initiatives from Shell in Kuwait include the provision of technical support in Kuwait’s refineries to help improve reliability and energy efficiency and using the latest Shell sulphur management technologies to protect the environment. In order to share best practices, international Shell experts and representatives for the Kuwaiti oil and gas industry exchange visits and organise joint workshops and seminars on oil shipping safety standards and the latest oil and gas technologies and applications.

On community level, Shell has an agreement with Kuwait University to sponsor some of its activities and offer Kuwaiti students training and internship opportunities in Shell operations. The company is also planning for future community initiatives such as road safety awareness.

“We proudly look back on our continuous relationship with Kuwait over the last 60 years, and we look forward to continue a closer cooperation with our Kuwaiti partners to support the country in achieving its stated production targets and 2020 strategic objectives through knowledge and technology sharing,” Mr. Mouti concluded.
