Shell has been operating in Gambia since 1951. Today Shell Marketing Gambia Limited (SMGL), a 100% Shell-owned subsidiary with 32 employees, is providing fuel and lubricants to industrial and retail customers. SMGL plays an active part in the community, particularly in the campaign against HIV/AIDS, working together with the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and developing partnerships with governmental education and health organisations.
