What’s it all about? |
 |
Join us on an internship, and you'll be able to see first hand what it's like to work for us. Lasting from eight weeks to 12 months, our internships are not only paid, they offer a chance to prove yourself in a challenging environment. What's more, you'll be working on real projects that have been specifically matched to your interests and abilities. As one of our interns, you’ll benefit from regular and structured performance evaluation from your mentor and direct supervisor. You’ll also receive direct feedback to help you to enhance your strengths and build on any areas for development. As your internship will be fully assessed against real tasks and targets, we gain a very rounded view of your skills and capabilities. Succeed in your internship and you could be offered a full-time position at Shell when you graduate. It’s a simple and direct route into Shell.

Projects |
 |
Our internship projects are never standard and are based on real business requirements at the time. Here are a few examples of projects that our interns have worked on:
Anders from Norway joined us in New Business Development and was responsible for a project which involved helping Shell EP Europe's ‘Opportunity Identification’ group to understand Shell's technical competitive edge.
“I had to identify centres of expertise within Shell, creating new knowledge through extensive interviews with technical staff. For the most part that meant facilitating communication between the technical and commercial experts, and working as a critical filter to make sure my findings were useful for people without a technical background.”
Bernard from Malaysia was an Industrial Trainee and helped to manage outlying problems in the Retail Engineering Maintenance of Malaysia.
“On top of applying my engineering knowledge to solve the problems, my role was also to give fresh ideas from an external point of view. I participated in formulating a well-structured replacement criterion for retail station equipment, which gave me the ground roots exposure that’s important in gaining a complete understanding of the retail structure in Shell.”
Nathali from France joined us as a Technologist and contributed to the ‘Global Margin Uplift’ project. The project aims to identify key factors to enable the company to increase its industrial margin on refining activities.
“I studied the possibility of sending long residue (bottom products from atmospheric distillation) to the viscosity breaking unit. From a technical point of view, I had to check that this modification would allow our products to match the 2005 specifications for Europe and to establish any changes required while the unit was in operation. I also had to assess the dimensions of the equipment to be installed and study the economic viability of the project.”
