Current developments
Despite being built in a challenging construction environment, progress at the project is so far in line with our expectations at the time of the investment decision.
The majority of the onshore and offshore facilities for Qatargas 4 are being developed jointly with Qatargas 3 (a Qatar Petroleum, ConocoPhillips and Mitsui development) through a single Joint Asset Development Team.
With solid progress in both the offshore and onshore elements, Qatargas 4 is on track for start-up around the end of the decade. The first deliveries of eight dedicated LNG carriers are expected in time for the start of production.
Markets
Qatargas 4 LNG will be shipped primarily to the Elba Island regasification facility in Georgia in the United States and high-value Asian markets. The project will produce enough natural gas annually to supply the energy needs of around 6 million U.S. homes.
Environment and society
Together with
Pearl GTL, Qatargas 4 represents a multi-billion dollar commitment to Qatar by Shell and the project is being developed in line with our sustainable development principles.
