How will public policy, changes in industry and consumer perceptions shape the future of mobility--and will it be sustainable? On April 11, industry leaders, policymakers, academics, energy experts and environmental advocates will join Shell in a lively discussion of this increasingly important global issue. Among the questions to address:
- Is there a shift in public perception that is increasing demand for environmentally friendly policy changes?
- Is industry dictating the renewed “eco-friendly” approach, or are consumer expectations and market trends leading this worldwide call for change?
- How does policy impact local, state, federal, and global actions to provide transportation options that are sustainable?
Now in its second year, the roundtable will take place at the California Speedway. Just as students team up to stretch the boundaries of fuel efficiency, the roundtable participants will work together to develop ideas and solutions to meet the growing demand for sustainable mobility. Student teams will join the discussions in person and participants from across the Americas will post questions for the panelists via video.
This year’s dialogue will build on the success of the 2007 Shell Eco-marathon Americas roundtable, which focused on the roles of policy, innovation and behavior in the search for sustainable mobility. It included representatives from:
- California Climate Action Registry
- Conservation International
- General Motors
- National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
- Natural Resources Defense Council
- Southern California Air Quality Management District
- The Nature Conservancy
- U.S. Green Building Council
Shell is an industry leader in sustainable mobility. We are working in partnership with governments, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations and various industries to develop sustainable solutions that will meet the growing global demands for energy in a responsible way. The Shell Eco-marathon Americas Stakeholder Roundtable is one demonstration of this commitment.
