Shell Cansolv Technology Used At The First Commercial-Scale Post-Combustion Carbon Capture And Storage Plant

Shell Cansolv technology is capturing the carbon dioxide (CO2) and sulphur dioxide (SO2) at SaskPower’s new world-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in Saskatchewan, Canada, which has opened today. The SaskPower facility at the Boundary Dam Power Station is expected to capture around 1 million tonnes of CO2 per year, which is up to 90% of CO2 emissions from one train of the power plant. It is the first commercial-scale post-combustion carbon capture system at a coal-fired power plant in the world.
