Special catalysts designed to help process a feedstock slate of heavy, high-acid crude oil at CNOOC Ltd’s new Huizhou refinery have achieved strong results, Dr Wu Qing, Chief Engineer of CNOOC Huizhou refinery, reported earlier this year at a special gathering of media and oil and gas industry professionals in Beijing, China.

Already one of the largest state-owned oil companies and China’s largest offshore oil and gas producer, CNOOC is taking bold steps towards its goal of becoming a world-class international energy company. Branching out from its core business of oil and gas exploration and development, CNOOC has been developing its presence in other areas of the value chain, and, in 2009, it brought the $3 billion Huizhou refinery on-stream in Guangdong Province.
