Optimised gas lift system for established North Sea field.
Optimal operation of mature oil and gas assets can be challenging, not least because of the continual evolution of their control systems over many years.
One such facility is 16-year-old North Sea Nelson platform, where, in 2005, a trip recovery and restart challenge was resolved with the help of a software module: FieldWare‡ Production Universe‡ Real-Time Optimisation (RTO).
“FieldWare Production Universe RTO was welcomed by our staff and is now instrumental in helping to reduce the average time for trip recovery and restart. It also helped us to deploy well and reservoir management surveillance,” said the then asset operations manager, Shell Exploration & Production.
