Customised catalyst solutions
Criterion’s combined catalyst systems deliver powerful response to the need for increased ULSD activity
In both pilot plant studies and commercial experience, systems using CoMo and NiMo catalysts – developed by Criterion Catalysts & Technologies – in various proportions and in various configurations – stacked beds and “sandwich” beds – have been found to yield superior ULSD production: keeping the sulphur content within specification while processing more difficult feeds, without increasing hydrogen consumption.
Pilot plant studies demonstrate synergistic behaviour
In the pilot plant studies, the ULSD HDS activities and H2 consumptions of individual CoMo and NiMo catalysts were compared with those of various CoMo/NiMo catalyst systems: a NiMo/CoMo/CoMo (1/1/1 volume basis) combination and a CoMo/NiMo/CoMo (1/1/1 volume basis) combination. Two types of CoMo catalyst were studied: a Type II catalyst (CoMo A) and a conventional Type 1 catalyst (CoMo B). The NiMo used was a Type II catalyst.
