Shell Aviation joint venture contributes to back-to-back airport operational excellence award
This is a significant win as it is the first time an airport has won the award in successive quarters.
The Delta Air Lines Grand Slam award recognises Atlantic region airports on the basis of the following service performance indicators:
- zero occupational injuries or illnesses
- zero aircraft ground damages
- zero environmental spills
- the number of near-miss observation reports submitted
- being in the top five stations for on-time departures.
Paul McDonald, CEO, Shell and Topaz Aviation Ireland Ltd, said: “It is a great honour to receive this award from one of our biggest customers at Dublin and we look forward to working together for many years to come.”
Our Into Plane (ITP) Operations in Dublin
The Dublin ITP operation is a joint venture between Shell Aviation and Topaz Aviation Ireland Ltd. The operation puts huge emphasis on customer service, while maintaining its commitment to an excellent HSSE performance and controlling costs.
Recently, our ITP operation personnel started to attend Delta's monthly safety meetings, which are a great forum for us to discuss near misses and HSSE related matters, and to be pro-active with the customer. Our attendance at these meetings helps to strengthen our relationship with Delta Air Lines in Dublin.
"I would like to offer my thanks and congratulations to our aviation colleagues in Ireland for their part in helping Dublin airport receive this award for the second time. Recognition from a customer is always extra special and goes to prove that what we do on the apron makes a difference to them everyday." said Petra Koselka, Shell Aviation GM, Europe.
I am delighted that our focus on operational excellence, and particularly on health, safety, security and the environment has been recognized by our customer. The team in Dublin can be proud of this achievement, which I hope will be an inspiration to us all.
