Gareth Lowe studied chemistry and biology at Carlett Park College and was awarded a degree in Chemistry from the University of Manchester.

After completing several internships at Shell during his studies, he was taken on full time in 2000 by the analytical department. He spent a significant amount of time on research projects for the Shell lubricants department before moving to the Shell Formula One™ programme in June 2006, attending his first Grand Prix at Silverstone, UK.

2012 is Lowe’s seventh season with the team. After spending most of the closed season upgrading the mobile laboratories, Lowe looks forward to working in them at the various race tracks.

Away from the circuit, Lowe co-ordinates the logistical challenge of getting the Shell trackside support team to 20 races in different countries, but during a racing week his role is to ensure the smooth running of the trackside facility, together with analysis of lubricants and fuels for the race weekend.
