Cara Tredget
Cara Tredget is Shell’s technology manager for Ferrari. Based at the Shell Global Solutions technical laboratory in Chester, UK, and with regular visits to Ferrari’s Gestione Sportiva in Maranello, Tredget oversees the Shell technical partnership with Ferrari to ensure that their respective development programmes are fully integrated and move forward seamlessly.
Whilst Tredget will attend the majority of Formula One™ races in 2012, she will also cover Ferrari Road Car and the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Series.
Tredget has been working at Shell for five years, joining immediately after completing a Master’s degree in Chemistry and gaining her PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Oxford University.
She has spent the majority of her time at Shell working on the product development of aviation fuels, lubes and hydraulic fluids. She also spent six months in the Netherlands working with Shell’s technology strategy group before joining the Formula One™ programme.
Tredget started to follow Formula One™ actively when she joined Shell in 2007, the year Kimi Räikkönen clinched both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles for Ferrari. Her first memories of motorsport are from the early 1990s, with Nigel Mansell winning the Drivers’ Title.
By being exposed to all the efforts that go on as part of Shell’s technical partnership with Ferrari, Tredget became extremely interested in, and excited about, the sport and has been bitten by the Formula One™ bug ever since.
2012 will be Tredget’s second season in Formula One™ and she will ensure Shell maintains momentum and continues to deliver performance-improving products to help Ferrari win races and championships in 2012 and beyond.
