Born in Rome on 14 January 1973, Giancarlo Fisichella developed a love for motorsport very early and started to race karts at the Guidonia circuit, Italy, at the age of eight.

He quickly advanced through the ranks in Italian and international karting championships and gained an outstanding reputation.

His career moved closer to Formula One™ in 1992 as he debuted in Formula Three, winning the Italian championship in 1993 with ten victories. In 1995 Fisichella left open wheel racing briefly and competed in the International Touring Car Championship for the Italian outfit, Alfa Romeo.

In 1996, aged 23, Fisichella entered the world of Formula One™ with the Minardi Team. His career developed quickly with 19 podium finishes, 275 racing points and three wins, in Malaysia, Brazil and Australia.

In 2009 Fisichella started to drive for Scuderia Ferrari, replacing the injured Felipe Massa. His first race was his home Grand Prix at Monza.

Fisichella’s career with Scuderia Ferrari continued from that point and he is now on the books as a development driver.
