F430
The F430 is the flagship of the Ferrari V8 range. Sleek and beautiful, this engineering masterpiece has blended the perfect combination of aggressive performance and ergonomic practicality. Take a look at its vital statistics below.
Overview
The F430 signals the arrival of a brand new generation of Ferrari 8-cylinder models. The car takes Ferrari's extraordinary achievements with aluminium technology to a whole new level and offers a series of extremely significant innovations derived directly from the Ferrari Formula One™ single-seaters.
Two of these innovations are world firsts for production cars: the electronic differential (E-Diff) and the steering wheel-mounted switch (better known to the Ferrari Formula One™ drivers as "manettino"), which manages the integrated systems governing vehicle dynamics.
The fuels and lubricants that are first put into the F430 have been developed from the Shell V-Power race fuel and Shell Helix lubricants that power the F2007 race car of Ferrari Formula One™ drivers, Felipe Massa and Kimi Räikkönen.
Performance
The F430 has a light 4,300 cc, 90° V8 engine punching out 490 hp to achieve a specific output of 114 hp/litre. It also provides the Ferrari Berlinetta with a power-to-weight ratio of 2.8 kg/hp; a braking system with carbon-ceramic discs for optimal efficiency under extreme use; and a Formula One™ derived gearbox that cuts gear shifting times down to 150 milliseconds, allowing the driver to make the very most of this truly high performance car (0-62 mph in 4 seconds, a top speed in excess of 196 mph).
It is not only the F430 gearbox that is derived from Formula One™. Shell scientists modify the Formula One™ technology used in its fuels and lubricants to suit the road environment. Ferrari relies on our road products as much as our racing ones.
Styling
The F430, designed by Pininfarina, is inspired by the car's exceptional engineering. Every aspect of the styling of this car highlights the aggression and performance of this thoroughbred Ferrari, yet respects the functional design of this kind of car.
The limited edition Enzo Ferrari influenced much of the rear styling of the F430. The interior of the 8-cylinder Berlinetta has been designed to give a sporting ambience. In-depth studies were carried out to improve ergonomics and practicality while underlining the exquisite and unique sensation of being aboard a thoroughbred Ferrari.
