First produced in 2004, the 612 Scaglietti takes its name from the sculptor of many of Enzo Ferrari's early Prancing Horses. This beautiful 540 bhp V12 would certainly make Sergio Scaglietti proud.
Overview
Working for Ferrari at the start of Enzo Ferrari's adventure, Sergio Scaglietti bodied some of the most beautiful cars ever to emerge from Maranello. Scaglietti worked like a sculptor, fashioning their forms from aluminium. Now the all-aluminium 612 has been dedicated to this great designer. The 612 Scaglietti is the perfect marriage of sporty thoroughbred Ferrari berlinetta performance and onboard comfort for four occupants.
The 612 Scaglietti, like all Ferrari Gran Turismo cars, leaves the factory with Shell fuel and lubricated by Shell. Shell works with Ferrari's engineers to produce fuels and lubricants that not only protect the engines, but provide the ultimate in performance and reliability.
Performance
The V12 engine represents the very pinnacle of Ferrari engine design. Thanks to the improved fluid dynamic characteristics of the intake and exhaust manifolds it generates a blistering 540 bhp at 7250 rpm.
A mid-front layout with the engine mounted behind the front axle, and the gearbox and differential unit at the rear, ensure that the centre of gravity is kept as far back and as low as possible. This in turn improves the performance (0-100 km/h in 4.2 0 seconds), stability and braking efficiency, as well as delivering much nimbler handling.
Characteristics of the technology used in the Shell fuels and lubricants that provide optimum power and protection in the high-performance Formula One™ environment are transferred to Shell road products used in Ferrari GT cars, including the 612.
Styling
Designed by Pininfarina to epitomise dynamism and elegance, the 612 Scaglietti boasts scalloped sides that replicate the famous 375 MM. Its thoroughbred spirit effortlessly combines outstanding comfort and space on board, from the new stratified electrochromic panoramic roof to the ease of entry for all four occupants and the notable legroom.
The level of on-board comfort is completed with a range of new generation ergonomic features: the instrument binnacle and steering wheel-mounted commands designed for maximum driver control; dual-zone climate control; and a Hi-End Bose® sound system specifically developed for the 612 Scaglietti’s sophisticated aluminium and leather interior.
