599 GTB Fiorano
The 599 GTB Fiorano is a reminder of all things great at Ferrari; the supreme power generated by its new V12 engine, the Gran Turismo Berlinettas of the past and the private race track used to perfect the Ferrari road cars (Fiorano). Take a look at its vital statistics below.
Overview
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is the most powerful 12-cylinder Berlinetta ever produced at Maranello; combining the most innovative and technologically advanced features ever applied to a front-mid engined two-seater.
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano name represents three elements of the car's lineage, "599" to reflect the displacement of its V12 engine divided by ten, "GTB" as in Gran Turismo Berlinetta after the most famous Ferrari Berlinettas ever built and "Fiorano" for the home circuit Ferrari uses to hone the performance of its track and road cars.
In recognition of Shell's innovation in both Ferrari GT cars and Formula One™, Ferrari presented Shell with the "Ferrari Innovation Award" in June 2007. Shell received the award for their high standards of excellence, innovation and product development in its ongoing technical partnership with the famous Prancing Horse.
Performance
Combining an all-aluminium chassis and bodywork, the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano has a weight-power ratio of less than 2.6 kg/hp. The engine is developed from the one that powered the Enzo Ferrari and its 6-litre V12 punches out 620hp at 7,600 rpm. The supercar can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in an astonishing 3.7 secs.
The new generation Formula One™ gearbox enhances the high-performance capabilities by using the elastic energy within the transmission components, together with the integrated electronic engine and gearbox management programmes, to speed up the gear change times. Gear shift time is cut to just 100 ms!
In August 2006, two Ferrari 599 GTB Fioranos took on a Panamerican 20,000 mile journey from Brazil to New York. Shell was the Technical partner of the event and shadowed the 620 horsepower cars every mile of their 84 day journey.
Styling
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano was designed with several specific objectives: to surpass the intense driving pleasure of such renowned models as the F40; to guarantee stunning performance courtesy of its highly innovative content and technology transfers from the Formula One™ single-seaters; and to deliver superior standards of roominess, comfort and ergonomics. The interior passenger areas of the car are trimmed in sumptuous leather while the driver area and controls are detailed in carbon fibre and aluminium.
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano benefits from a vast range of personalisation options from Carbon Ceramic Material (CCM) brakes to a luggage set specifically tailored to fit the model.
