Fastest, Furthest Transcript
Written transcript of the Fastest, Furthest video..
An F1 engine thrums and we see a point-of-view shot of driving on tarmac. The words “FIORANO CIRCUIT, ITALY” come up on screen. A flash of red, and a Ferrari F1 car whizzes across the screen.
As we cut to different shots and close-ups of the F1 car on the track as a voice announces,
Our technical partnership with the Ferrari Formula 1 team has helped us to develop fuels and lubricants that get the most out of every drop at speeds of over 320 kilometres per hour.
From the point-of-view of the car, we drive into the pit lane and are approached by the pit crew with a trolley. However we drive right past them, much to the confused looks of the crew, and head out of the Fiorano gate onto the open road.
Still from the point-of-view of the car, we see sped-up footage of driving on scenic motorways, being passed by lorries. We drive beside an excited bunch of cyclists on a mountain pass, and a hiking skier by a snow-covered road. The sun sets over the mountains and we pass a Shell station as dusk falls. We go through a dim tunnel, and cut to a shot of l’Arc de Triomphe, Paris, through a rain-speckled lens. We drive near the Eiffel Tower and stop at a red light as two girls point and stare as they cross the road.
The light turns green and we’re off again; down a countryside road, past a ‘Dresden, 150km’ sign, a Shell petrol station in the dark and a ‘Prague’ motorway sign. We drive into a city, are caught in a traffic jam and stuck behind a horse-drawn cart before we’re back on the motorways. We see a sign marked ‘Sofia’. We drive down another road towards a wind turbine and pause for a train crossing.
All the while, the voiceover continues, At Shell we believe that performance and efficiency must go hand in hand and that, together, they will help shape the new energy future.
We come out of a tunnel and see a sign pointing to ‘Istanbul’. As we enter the city, the words “ISTANBUL, TURKEY” appear on screen. We drive over cobbled roads into a square by the river, scattering the pigeons and attracting curious glances from passers-by.
The voice says,
That's why we also hold the Shell Eco-marathon, a global competition that pushes the boundaries of fuel efficiency.
The camera cuts to reveal a small, white, bullet-shaped vehicle, branded with Shell logos. The voiceover explains,
The record holders have covered over 3,300 kilometres on the equivalent of one litre of fuel.
The handheld camera pans out and around the car as passers-by approach the car for a closer look.
The words come up on screen and are read aloud:
The fastest, the furthest and everything in between.
The screen then fades to white, and we see the Shell logo, along with the website URL www.shell.com
