Domenicali - 2010 Regulations are a welcome challenge - Transcript
Stefano Domenicali, team principal of Scuderia Ferrari, discusses the challenges facing the Shell scientists and the Ferrari engineers in light of the new regulations that ban refuelling from 2010.
Effects of re-fuelling ban from 2010
Refuelling would be banned next year and this is something that will challenge the technical people to have a different car that has to take on board a lot more fuel. And also a very challenging project for the guys that are working together with us, the Shell people, to make sure that this can be taken as a different project in order to make sure that for example the fuel efficiency is a very high priority for us.
Fuel efficiency is very important, it’s a high priority for Formula One™ but also on the road car side. And so this is really a bench where a lot of products, a lot of research can be done and transferred to our customer world. When I say customer world I mean the Shell customer, I mean the Ferrari customer.
So that’s a typical example where the partnership of Ferrari and Shell that started since 60 years will be enhanced for the future. And this is a typical example where we want Formula One™ to make sure that it has new technology, new challenges from the technical point of view, because this is the essence of Formula One™.
