Shell Track Lab Transcript
Written transcript of the Shell Track Lab video.
A Ferrari F2007 races past the screen, accompanied by the high pitched scream of the engine.
Voice over comes in:
"My name is Ian Alberton. My position is a senior assistant scientist within Shell."
Ian is shown walking into a Shell Laboratory, and he begins working.
Ian's voice returns:
"I am one of a team of trackside scientists that travel to the races. However, I do have a lot of responsibilities, and these include maintaining the smooth running of the trackside facilities, looking after the race team logistics, ie hotels, make flights bookings etcetera."
A plane flies quickly across the screen followed by an F2007.
New voice over is heard:
"My name is Mark Farley, and I am the senior lubricants analyst trackside. It's a four type job. I've got all of my colleagues around me and all those people pull together to get those two cars on the track on Sunday."
The scene cuts to the garage where one of the cars is being prepared, and then back to Mark in the Shell track lab.
"I think my favourite moment was in Japan in 2003, when Michael won the championship, and he gave me a high five as he walked by the track lab. Something to tell the grandkids!"
Dan Jamieson begins speaking:
"Spending time with Ian and Charley is a pleasure."
Ian jokes, "It's hard enough for me!"
(Laughter from the three.)
"I am Dan Jamieson, and I am the backup lubricants analyst track-side for Shell and Ferrari. Part of my role is the maintenance focal point control for the trackside facilities."
Ian speaks: "The passion between the team is very strong."
He laughs, and says "Can I rephrase that?"
The scene cuts to an F2007 racing across the screen and back to the Shell track lab, where Ian continues to speak.
"Part of the Shell and Ferrari relationship and if you like enjoying and sharing the passion and joy that goes into winning races and we've been lucky enough, world championships as well. I feel lucky and very privileged to be part of that."
The video ends with the three men standing side by side inside the Shell track lab, and as the sound of an F2007 resonates, they act as if they are watching the car actually drive past.
