Meet Shell's Formula One™ Analysts
You would be easily forgiven for thinking that Ian Albiston, Mark 'Charlie' Farley and Dan Jamieson lead double lives.
Their first life revolves around the Shell Global Solutions facility in the peaceful Cheshire countryside in the UK, working in the offices and laboratories which support Shell’s Formula One™ development programme. Their second life is spent at the race tracks of the world. For 17 weekends this year – not to mention the days leading up to each race – two of the three analysts, on a rotational basis, can be seen sporting the red uniform on the Formula One™ front line.
The Shell track lab accompanies Ferrari to all races on the calendar. At each race, this facility is home to the trackside team. The team, working exceptionally long hours, carries out up to 40 tests per weekend on the Shell V-Power fuel and Shell Helix motor oil taken from the Ferrari Formula One™ car throughout the weekend.
The important task of monitoring the regulated fuels and lubricants supplied for the Scuderia Ferrari drivers, Massa and Raïkkönen, is not one to be taken lightly. Ian, Charlie and Dan each has a different role onsite, however they all have a shared passion for ensuring that Shell makes the best contribution possible to Scuderia Ferrari’s success.
