Impact assessment of our activities
We contribute to sustainable development by working to deliver benefits through our projects and our operations, while helping to reduce their impacts. Impact assessments help us to do this. They outline the steps needed to help reduce the impacts on people and the environment.

The systematic assessment of the potential environmental, health and social impacts is a fundamental part of the way we design our projects or any changes to existing facilities. An impact assessment looks to identify the positive and negative impacts that can arise from our activities.
We familiarise ourselves with the environmental setting and regulations, consult with affected and interested parties, and plan from the earliest stages how we can reduce any impacts to an acceptable level and optimise the delivery of benefits.
We capture the goals we set in the impact assessment process in a management plan and must implement and track these through the life of the project or operation.
During operations we work to maintain good relations with communities and other interested parties and to find ways to continually improve our social and environmental performance.
