A lighting system in their engine compartment makes it safer to work on the mechanics. Their safety processes are thorough and well organised. In the car safety features include an anti-tilt mechanism.

The team has a holistic total approach to safety, which meets all the requirements to drive on the road in Sweden. Every team member wears full protective clothing and they are well organised with strict procedures in place and detailed safety manuals.

I.T.I.S. Leonardo da Vinci - Italy
The team has designed a system for optimising the use of their fuel cell. When the driver brakes energy is stored and then released to the engine. Regenerative braking is not new in the industry, but the efficiency in this system impressed the judges.

Aston University - United Kingdom
An attractive UrbanConcept car built focused on sustainability. The car body incorporates British-forestry approved wood and cardboard in a honeycomb structure. The entire car can be packed flat for delivery, making the process from production to driving more efficient.

Team n. 720 - EcoEmotion
Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthoch hochschule Halle - Germany
Judged for revolution more than evolution, Eco-emotion has a unique shape and engineering. While the finish was not perfect, the car captures the attention of everyone passing by. Its outer shell is made up of polygons, with a curved windscreen. The driver’s cabin is
pivoted between two points like a hammock. The wheels stay straight
while the cabin tilts, providing extra comfort and safety.

The team has focused beyond its car design to communicate with a wide audience and raise their profile. After careful research into their target audience and detailed planning they launched a professional campaign and have appeared on television, radio, newspapers, on the
Internet and across social media. They have, for example, uploaded
videos to YouTube and in one month their website received 16,000
unique visitors.

All the way from Morocco the team has limited resources. Their car was late arriving so the team could only make one attempt on the track. But they stayed positive and showed how happy they were to be at Shell Eco-marathon representing their country.
