Schedule of Events

The schedule of events for Shell Eco-marathon Americas 2014 is now available. Download the 2014 competition schedule.

Paddock

Each team will have a 30’ X 10’ working space inside the George R. Brown Convention Center (see the venue on Google Maps). Tables, chairs, electricity, free wireless internet, a waste basket and compressed air will be provided. A welder will also be available to assist the teams with any welding needs.

The grounds are patrolled by 24 hour security; however, we recommend keeping your valuables with you, or designating a team member to be responsible for watching them, if you are away.

Lodging

  • Free camping is available inside the GRB Convention Center. Padding, showers and meals are provided.  Teams are encouraged to bring their own sleeping bags, tents, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • We will also offer group rates at nearby hotels.

Meals

Free meals for up to eight team members will be provided throughout the weekend.  Additional meal tickets can be purchased for $100 each (covers meals throughout the entire weekend). *Details are subject to change.

Travel stipends

Travel stipend checks are awarded to each team (calculated by school distance to the event / one check per vehicle). Details will be included in the Shell Eco-marathon Americas 2014 Chapter II rules.

Travel

We have negotiated a group rate with United Airlines and Super Shuttle.  Please see the flier below for reservation details.

Parking Onsite

There will be places to park trailers and buses at the event. The “close” parking is first-come-first-serve and is recommended for trailers/vehicles that contain items that you’ll need on-site (i.e. tools). There will be additional parking available that will be a little further off-site.

There will be a fork lift onsite for teams that need help loading and unloading their vehicles.

Shipping

This year we will once again require all international teams to use Freeman, the shipping provider of the George R. Brown Convention Center, for shipping AND brokerage services.  Teams within with United States are strongly encouraged to ship via Freeman.

Freeman offers competitive prices and will ensure that your vehicle arrives on time and is sent directly to your paddock space.  They will also assist you with the proper customs and EPA paperwork and will help if your vehicle gets stuck in customs.

International teams that have shipped via other shipping providers and brokerage services in the past have experienced many road blocks, government issues and have had their vehicles get stuck in customs. We are unable to assist teams with these issues when they do not ship through Freeman.

Please contact the appropriate person below in order to secure a quote for your shipment.
