    Over a hundred cars in various shapes and sizes were spotted on the street circuit at Luneta Park in Manila on the second competition day of Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2014. These cars were built by students from across Asia and the Middle East in an attempt to set a new record and achieve the highest mileage on a litre of fuel.

    The city of Manila today hosted the Shell Powering Progress Together Forum, convening more than 350 delegates from government, business and civil society. Leading the roster of speakers, were Hon. Carlos Jericho Petilla, Secretary, Philippine Department of Energy, Manila; Vinod Thomas, Director General of Independent Evaluation from the Asian Development Bank; Mr. Jose Ma. Lorenzo Tan, Chief Executive Officer of World Wildlife Fund Philippines and Brahma Chellaney, Professor of Strategic Studies, India Centre for Policy Research, who discussed the implications of the challenges facing the world’s vital resources, as well as potential solutions.

    Students from all across Asia and the Middle East arrived in Manila today to tackle a street circuit in the heart of Manila, Philippines, with the fuel efficient vehicles they designed and built. The over 100 student teams are here to compete in the fifth edition of Shell’s annual Shell Eco-marathon Asia.
