The Sun Comes Out on Friday
Friday saw the student teams continuing to arrive, register and start the process of technical inspection.
Teams took to the track--a circuit through the downtown streets of Houston, Texas--to practice and make last minute adjustments before the real competition begins on Saturday.
Vehicles are powered by fuel types from gasoline to ethanol to battery to hydrogen. Students push the limit to go the farthest distance using the least amount of energy.
Shell Eco-marathon challenges teams of science, engineering and technology students around the world to design, build and test energy efficient vehicles. The program culminates in three days of competition at locations in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Shell Eco-marathon is an important part of Shell’s response to the energy challenge – and it’s an amazing experience!
