Sakhalin-2 people
Sakhalin-2 is one of the world’s largest integrated, export-oriented oil and gas projects and Russia’s first offshore gas project. When running at full capacity, expected in 2010, Sakhalin-2 will add 5% to the world’s current liquefied natural gas (LNG) capacity. It will meet almost 8% of Japan’s gas needs and 5% of South Korea’s. Discover the project and the people involved.

Sakhalin-2 is one of the most challenging engineering feats ever achieved. It operates amid some of the world’s harshest conditions in Russia’s far east.
The three oil and gas platforms off Sakhalin Island can withstand a harsh climate and earthquakes.
Two 800-kilometre onshore pipelines form the backbone of Sakhalin-2. They run over steep mountains, under rivers and through swamps and forests.
At the heart of Sakhalin-2 is its liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant.
